Description
France, Napoleonic Period. Royal and Military Order of St. Louis, Knight's cross with rosette, circa 1810, in 18k gold, on its original period ribbon. Weighs 8.43 grams. Measures 45 x 28 mm including the gold ring. Founded by King Louis XIV in 1693 to reward officers for distinguished service, it was the first French order open to those of non-noble birth. A beautiful example in good condition.
