Montenegro Order of Honor and Freedom Medal, Instituted 1919

Montenegro, Kingdom. Order of Honor and Freedom medal (Orden za pravo, ?ast i slobodu Crne Gore), instituted in 1919. In bronze gilt with red, white, green, blue and violet enamels, with intact enamels and original triangular ribbon with hook and eye. Created by King Nicholas I from exile in France to reward those seeking to restore Montenegrin independence following WWI, particularly participants in the Christmas Uprising of January 1919; Montenegro was subsequently absorbed into the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes and regained independence only in 2006. Extremely fine condition.
