Description
United States / South Korea. A group of three awards to Major General Charles W. Eifler, comprising two boxed and named U.S. Distinguished Service Medals (one with a miniature) and a rare South Korean Order of Military Merit, III Class (Chung Mu), 1963 series one of only 233 awarded during the Vietnam War also in its original box. Born 1 December 1914 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Eifler graduated from Pennsylvania State College in civil engineering and later earned a master's in electrical engineering. Commissioned a second lieutenant in 1936, he served with the Army Ground Forces in Europe during WWII and went on to a distinguished career in the U.S. Army missile program, including three tours at Redstone Arsenal, command of Frankford Arsenal, service in Vietnam (196667) and command of the U.S. Army Missile Command (MICOM, 196769). He retired in 1973 and died on 20 September 2005. Accompanied by research. Very fine condition.
