Description
Austria-Hungary, Empire. Military Long Service Decoration for Officers, III Class, in bronze with an applied silver eagle and a mother-of-pearl reverse, by Moritz Tiller & Co. of Budapest. Housed in the firm's original period case of issue, the arched lid lined in ivory satin and gilt-stamped with a crowned coat of arms supported by griffins above the legend "Moritz Tiller & Co. / k. u. k. oesterreich.-ungarische Hoflieferanten / BUDAPEST - KARLSKASERNE / Wien und Belgrad", the firm also styling itself purveyor to the Imperial Persian and Royal Serbian courts. Measures 50 x 34 mm; the case 110 x 65 x 20 mm. Instituted by Emperor Franz Joseph I in 1849 to reward long service in the imperial army and navy. Good condition.
