Description
Latvia, Republic. Order of Viesturs, V Class, Military Division, with swords, by V. Millers of Riga, in gilt and enamels. Measures 43 x 61 mm. Named for Viesturs, the 13th-century Latvian ruler and folk hero, the order honoured achievements in strengthening Latvia's state and social security. It lapsed in 1940 when Latvia came under Soviet control and was re-established in 2004, with Civil and Military Divisions, the latter distinguished by crossed swords. Only 503 V Class examples were produced. Good condition.
