Description

Japan. Order of the Rising Sun (Kyokujitsu-sho), VI Class. In silver with white, green and violet enamels, the sun disc a red glass cabochon to both sides, suspended from a paulownia crest in a 3-5-3 arrangement with laterally pierced ball suspension. Measures 46 x 71.5 mm including the suspension. Instituted by Emperor Meiji in 1875, it was the first order created by the Japanese government. Enamels intact, extremely fine condition.
