Description

Haiti, Empire. Imperial Civil Order of the Legion of Honour (l'Ordre Imperial Civil de la Croix de la Legion d'Honneur), Knight's cross, circa 1850. Measures 60 x 38 mm. Established by Emperor Faustin I on 21 September 1849 to reward civilians for meritorious and outstanding service to the nation, the order was abolished in 1859, after only a decade in existence. Some enamel chipping, otherwise very good condition for its age.
